The installed capacity of TarımGES, which was 5 megawatts all over the world in 2012, exceeded 14 gigawatts in 2022. More than 3,000 applications have been made so far in Japan, which leads the world in this regard. Solar3GW Association, which has prepared a report on this subject, stated that a total of 11 gigawatts of power will be obtained when TarımGES is installed even on 1 per thousand of the agricultural lands in Turkey. According to the report, it was observed that the production of hot pepper in the fields where solar power plants were installed tripled. In the production of cherry tomatoes, it was observed that the use of water decreased by 65 percent and the total production doubled.
Solar3GW Chairman of the Board Yusuf Bahadır Turhan said, “Thanks to the new solar power plants to be installed in the fields, Crops will be protected against harsh climatic conditions and a high-efficiency product will be obtained, while a high cost input such as electricity will be optimized. Turhan stated that TarımGES will cost 25 percent more than land type SPPs.
From METU GÜNAM Research Center, Dr. Talat Özden, on the other hand, said that photovoltaic systems integrated into agriculture work very well in arid regions and said, "We can even say that by changing some product patterns, they can repair the soil and underground water resources."
